Melissa Alexander  – Westland District Council Representative

I have been working in the hospitality and tourism industry for the past twelve years, seven of these spent in various roles with the Scenic Hotel Group and I have an absolute love for the industry.

We are at such an exciting stage of growth within the tourism industry in New Zealand and I am looking forward to working on the board of Tourism West Coast.

I move to Fox Glacier to take up the role of General Manager of the Heartland Hotel Fox Glacier and the Heartland Hotel Glacier Country, a position that has provided me with a good understanding of the challenges and opportunities that we have here on the West Coast.

Since moving to the West Coast, I have thoroughly enjoyed getting involved in the community by volunteering with the Fox Glacier Fire Brigade, as well as being a committee member for Glacier Country Tourism Group and Fox Inc Community Group.

I am enthusiastic about my new appointment to the Tourism West Coast Board for the Westland District Council and I look forward to meeting all the operators that I proudly represent.
