Seven Tourism New Zealand staff are preparing to experience the West Coast firsthand on a famil from Wānaka to Hokitika.

This visit is a fantastic opportunity for TNZ to connect with tourism operators and gain deeper insights into what makes the Coast an unforgettable destination. This famil visit will equip these TNZ staff with better knowledge to sell the West Coast and encourage more famils to come our way.

Their journey kicks off with the spectacular Haast River Safari, where they’ll explore the dramatic UNESCO World Heritage listed landscapes of the Haast region. A stop at Lake Moeraki Wilderness Lodge will showcase one of our region’s unique eco-experiences before they continue north to Franz Josef for a soak at Waiho Hot Tubs, and stay at Scenic Hotel Franz Josef.

The following morning, the group will start their day at the West Coast Wildlife Centre, getting up close with rare native species like the rowi kiwi. A site inspection at Westwood Lodge is up next before they head to Lake Mapourika to visit Franz Josef Wilderness Tours.

From there, they’ll continue north to Ōkārito, to visit both Ōkārito Kayaks and Ōkārito Eco Boat Tours for product updates. Their trip will wrap up with an adrenaline-fueled finale at the West Coast Treetop Walkway & Zipline —an unforgettable way to round off their Coast adventure.

This famil will be experienced by TNZ staff from the United States, UK, Japan and Australia.
