Join DWC and meet Clark Nelson, Buller Electricity’s new CEO, at the end of year business breakfast in Westport for an inspiring discussion on Clark’s career.

Clark has recently moved back to the Buller after leaving five years earlier. He considers himself a local and completed his primary education at the Waimangaroa Primary School and then moved onto Buller High School. He played over 100 rugby games for Buller, a lot of these captaining the side. Clark's family, partner Tania and children Anika, Caleb and Xanthe will all eventually make the move back to Westport.

After leaving school in 1995 at age 18, Clark was successful in gaining an apprenticeship as an engineering fitter at the Cape Foulwind Cement Plant. 21 years later he was the Plant Manager and responsible for closing the plant. His 21-year career at Holcim saw Clark lead each department and learn various skills and dynamics in different teams. Clark was awarded the CEO award in 2015 for Holcim Australia/NZ which is selected out of 6000 staff between both countries.

After the plant closure, Clark moved to Hokitika and took up a role as Engineering Manager, leading the engineering team at Westland Milk Products. He held various roles there in his 5-year stint, including Site Manager which was responsible for all milk production, up to 4 million litres of milk a day, and more than 250 staff. Most recently as the Capital Projects, Maintenance & Services General Manager, he was responsible for the execution of well over 100 projects a year.

Clark will start working as the CEO at Buller Electricity on December the 6th and is looking forward to the move and challenge of a new career.
