Latest update: September 6th: Delta Level 2, the event can take place with modifications, we have those already prepared as last years Spring Challenge in Christchurch was looking like being held in Level 2, but thankfully the alert dropped to Level 1 days before the event. We remain hopeful that we’ll be in Level 1 come October.
If it looks likely it will be a Level 2 event we will send out a detailed brief on how it will work. The key point to note at this stage is that in Level 2 Support Crew is limited to 1-person per team. We are exploring the possibility of extending that to 2-people. The registration will be an outdoor venue for team captains only, race briefing will be electronic, each start wave will have 30-teams at regular intervals throughout the morning. The awards ceremony will be outdoors, for podium finishing teams only. Spot prizes will be pre drawn and given to the teams at registration. We have organised and participated in events at Level 2, they can work hugely successfully provided everyone is adaptable and follows the protocols. We’ve got this!
The event is one of the gems of New Zealand adventure racing, where up to 480-teams of 3-women take part in a thrilling adventure that includes rafting / kayaking, mountain biking, hiking and navigation.
The event was the vision and creation of 6 x Adventure Racing World Champion, and winner of Eco Challenge ‘The World’s Toughest Race’ - Nathan Fa'avae
