Designed specifically for the West Coast, Coast Connect is changing the way West Coast job seekers, employers and education providers interact.
Coast Connect is an exciting new way to link job hunters with Coast-based training opportunities and local jobs.
The app was designed by Tai Poutini Polytechnic to address the fact that young people were leaving the region to look for jobs elsewhere, at the same time as Coast businesses were crying out for skilled staff.
Coast Connect aims to remove the barriers to getting into a job on the Coast.
By working with both potential students and local employers, the people that run the app can help create opportunities and real outcomes that benefit local people and local businesses.

Upskill is working with a range of employers, across the West Coast region in all kinds of industries. The Upskill team can match you with job vacancies, introduce you to employers and work with the employer to develop an in work training programme, should you need to learn new skills.
If you are currently a client with Work and Income, they will work with your case manager to ensure you get the support you need from both of our organisations.
Mayors Taskforce for Jobs
A collaboration between the Mayors Taskforce for Jobs (MTFJ) and the Ministry of Social Development (MSD), the MTFJ Community Recovery Programme has helped 23 rural councils assist small to medium sized businesses (SMEs) with recruitment, training and subsidies, to help them take on young workers or those who have been displaced due to the impact of the Covid-19 crisis. The programme will provide up to $500,000 per rural council to create a minimum of 50 sustainable employment positions.
Connected.govt.nz is a government service to help New Zealanders connect to the wide range of Employment, Education and Training support and advice available.
Connected.govt.nz includes a website, phoneline and face-to-face service. The service will help a wide range of New Zealanders find the advice and support they need. This includes businesses, people looking for help to find a job or who are worried about keeping the one they have, and those looking for education and training advice and opportunities.
