Franz Josef Glacier Hot Pools raises $1k for Civil Defence
The Franz Josef Glacier Hot Pools has raised over $1,000 for the Franz Josef Civil Defence as part of its 10th anniversary celebrations.
More than 150 people visited the pools on Saturday (3 November) to do aqua yoga, get a massage and enjoy a sausage sizzle, cake and games.
Entry was by gold coin donation, with all proceeds going to the Franz Josef Civil Defence. A total of $1,140.90 was raised.
Franz Josef Glacier Hot Pools Business Manager Ashley Cassin says the event was a huge success.
“It was brilliant to have such a great turnout, considering the very wet weather we had on Saturday! It was a fun day and we were thrilled to have raised over $1,000 for our local Civil Defence team.”
Franz Josef Civil Defence plans to use the money to go towards setting up a new welfare equipment container at the community hall.
The Franz Josef Glacier Hot Pools opened in 2008 and has since welcomed more than 500,000 manuhiri (visitors).
The complex has three main pools, three private pools, spa and massage facilities, a licensed café and an i-SITE centre.
The pools are owned by Ngāi Tahu Tourism, one of the leading tourism operators in Aotearoa with 14 businesses. Ngāi Tahu Tourism is a subsidiary of Ngāi Tahu Holdings, which is governed by Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu.
