The online competition ran between 10 February – 30 May 2020. Entrants could select up to five West Coast activities on Westcoast.co.nz and submit them for a chance to win those experiences.
The prize also includes flights, accommodation, and car hire for two people.
DWC regional tourism manager. Jim Little, says the competition has been a success, with 13,400 entries received.
The Hands On competition was part of an overall campaign to increase visitors to the region following the Mt Hercules road slip in December 2019. The campaign was funded by Ministry for Business, Innovation and Employment.
“It was great to receive such a large number of entries to the competition. Highlighting the paid activities on the West Coast. Encouraging visitor growth following the Mt Hercules slip was our overall objective. It was a great result for the Coast,” says Mr Little.
During the competition period the webpage received 151,433 pageviews.
