We are 15 minutes from the famed Cape Foulwind Seal Colony and the stunning Lighthouse walkway to Tauranga Bay. The famous Pancake Rocks at Punakaiki are 40 minutes away and it is 80 minutes to Karamea with the Oparara Arches and Scotts Beach at the start of the Heaphy Track.

We also have walking/biking trails at Charming Creek, the Denniston Plateau and the newly formed Old Ghost Road cycling trail all within 40 minutes from Carters Beach.

Activities in the Westport area

You can also just relax and take a leisurely walk along the sandy beach right on our doorstep as well as a round of golf at the Carters Beach Golf Club and enjoy a drink and lunch/ dinner at the Restaurant /Bar next door.

Facilities

Completed in December 2014 to the highest earthquake code and fire standards, each 30m2 beachside studio is soundproof and cosy due to its concrete floor/wall construction and northerly aspect to capture the sun’s passive heat.

Each of the 10 boutique studios has a kitchen with a dishwasher, ceiling fans, underfloor bathroom heating, 50+ sky tv and 40-inch flatscreen tv, a range of king, queen and queen + single beds, occasional chairs, free 500mb wifi, filtered water and a balcony or deck.

We, at Carters by the sea, pride ourselves in providing a relaxing, friendly and enjoyable stay while you visit the Westport area.
