More information

Directly at the Northern trail head of The Old Ghost Road lies a special wilderness accommodation experience.

Begin or end your adventure with Rough and Tumble Bush Lodge. We offer deeply comfortable accommodations, hearty meals, and cordial hosting with a range of local beer and wines.

As keen mountain bikers and trampers and founding members of the Mokihinui-Lyell backcountry Trust (the non-profit organisation behind The Old Ghost Road) we're ready to help you make the most of your OGR plans.

Or simply stay with us while you're experiencing the amazing northern West Coast. From the wild bush and beaches to mountains and rivers, the incredible Oparara Arches and Honeycomb Hills Caves to the renowned Charming Creek Walkway.

While with us, you may want to cast a line into the mighty Mokihinui River, unspoiled and right in front of the lodge.

Take a dip in our famous bush bath, to sooth those hard-working muscles. Share stories with fellow adventurers around the blazing fire.

Or relax in your supremely comfortable room beneath the jagged edge of the Glasgow Range.

Any direction you listen or look, you're immersed in the native wilderness of the West Coast of New Zealand's South Island.

One guest suite (of the 5 available) has a wheelchair accessible bathroom. Please let us know if you require this suite.
