The Karamea Aerodrome is a small, yet busy airfield run by a group of volunteers. It is used by multiple air transport operators servicing the iconic Heaphy Track, and by many recreational or private pilots visiting the area.

Karamea Aerodrome

With a lengthy drive to the Golden Bay side of the Heaphy Track, air transport is a popular option for those needing transport to/from their vehicles . There is one commercial operator based at the Karamea Aerodrome (Helicopter Charter Karamea) while other operators travel from outside the region.
