Breakers Boutique Accommodation Stars of the West Coast package is for those people wanting to see starfish, sunsets, star lit skies and glow worms.

The first three stars can be seen while staying with us here at Breakers and thanks to our friends at Underworld Adventures we've included an eco-tour into the Nile River Cave system deep in the Paparoa National Park for viewing the fourth star the NZ glow worm.

Winter is a fantastic time to visit the West Coast with often some of our best more settled weather and mild temperatures.

With our beachfront location and private track to the beach you have the opportunity for an explore out on the rockpools.  At low tide when the rocks are uncovered they are fun to explore, complete with orange starfish.  Known as the reef starfish, these guys are endemic to the West Coast shores on the North and South Island of New Zealand and vital in reducing the expansion of mussels - of which there are also plenty of out on the rocks at Breakers, hence aptly named Mussel Point.

Thanks to the might of the Tasman Sea we are often spoilt by the mass of reef starfish available for viewing as they prefer ecosystems with a high energy environment with lots of wave action.

As part of your 3 night package head up to Charleston, a beautiful 40 minute drive up the Great Coast Road, named one of the top ten coastal drives in the world by Lonely Plant, to meet for the Glow-worm cave tour with Underworld Adventures.  Explore the enormous Nile River cave system, with the galaxies of glow-worms in residence. A stunning natural sight not to miss!

Following a short drive you will board your "Nile River rain-forest train" for a journey into the Paparoa National Park exploring one of its highly protected and unique features – ancient cave systems, fragile cave formations, twinkling glowworms – hidden below lush rainforest, uniquely carved rock formations and impressive limestone cliffs. 

With 3 evenings you have three chances of taking advantage of our beachfront location and the perfect vantage point for watching the sun as it sets into the Tasman Sea and then sit back in wonderment as the skies above start their transition and start to twinkle with our star lit skies (weather permitting).

Being beachfront we are afforded some fantastic sunsets but many of our guests say the beauty of the sunset is only superseded by the majesty of the star lit skies.  Marvel at the Milky Way as she spreads across the sky and take advantage of downloading either a Star Gazing App or our Southern Skies Chart so you can discover the various constellations.  Worth setting your alarm for a middle of the night viewing.
