Theatre Royal Hotel, Kumara

The Theatre Royal Hotel in Kumara was a renowned theatre and hotel during the gold rush era. It is now an elegantly restored boutique hotel situated along the stunning West Coast Wilderness Cycle Trail. It features a variety of accommodation options reminiscent of its gold rush past including themed rooms, lavishly decorated luxury suites and boutique cottages.

Initially the hotel was rebuilt with six rooms, accommodating up to 12 guests. It has since expanded; a range of varied accommodation has been added to the hotel. The hotel now has accommodation for up to 71 guests and has claimed several awards, including four New Zealand hospitality awards for excellence.

The hotel features a stone fireplace, mellow lighting and a grand old 1876 piano creating a unique, theatrical atmosphere. The bar and restaurant offer guests an a la carte dining experience, selection of wines, fine whiskeys, cocktails and craft brews.
