There are 25 sites (comprising laboratories, workshops and offices), three of these laboratories are located on the West Coast at Runanga, Westport and Ngakawau. They test a variety of mineral commodities as well as environmental compliance and animal and fish by products.

While the SGS head office is located in Auckland, the head office of the minerals and environment, health and safety business is located in Westport.
