This action-packed itinerary began with a Scenic Plus TranzAlpine train ride from Christchurch to Greymouth, where Michelle and Johnson were treated to panoramic views of the Southern Alps. Upon arrival, they were seamlessly transferred by Hokitika Scenic Tours to their first stop: the Māwhera Pounamu Pathway, where they explored the region's rich cultural heritage.
The adventure continued with a visit to the iconic Pancake Rocks and Blowholes, followed by a scenic walk on the Truman Track. The day concluded with a hearty dinner at Punakaiki Rocks Tavern and an overnight stay at the Scenic Hotel Punakaiki.
The next day featured a mesmerising Glowworm Cave Tour with Underworld Adventures and a delicious lunch at Monteith’s Brewery, complemented by a tour of the brewery. They watched the sunset at the Hokitika Driftwood sign before enjoying dinner at the Woodstock Hotel and spending the night at Ross Beach Top 10 Holiday Park.
The itinerary continued with a Classic Kayak Adventure and an Off-Road Quad Bike Adventure with Franz Josef Wilderness Tours. They dined at Betsey Jane Eatery & Bar, and then spent the night at The Two Tales in Fox Glacier.
Their exploration of the region included breakfast at Lake Matheson Café, a walk around Lake Matheson, a visit to the Fox Glacier Viewpoint, and the West Coast Wildlife Centre. They capped off their trip with a Scenic Helicopter Flight with Heli Services and a relaxing soak at Waiho Hot Tubs. The night was spent at Rainforest Retreat in Franz Josef in the cozy Gecko Cottage.
The final day featured the Treetop Walk and Zipline, followed by lunch at The Hokitika Sandwich Company and the Hokitika Gorge walk, wrapping up a memorable exploration of the West Coast.
