This media famil was part of the Tourism New Zealand Global PR campaign, ‘Stargrazing,’ designed to highlight New Zealand’s diverse tourism offerings through food, beverage, and astro-tourism offerings. This famil focused on showcasing wider tourism offerings in the winter season. The famil included a mix of journalists and social influencers, showcasing the best of the South Island’s winter offerings.
Their journey to the West Coast began with a Scenic Plus TranzAlpine train ride from Christchurch to Greymouth, offering stunning views of the Southern Alps. They explored the Māwhera Pounamu Pathway, immersing themselves in the rich cultural heritage of the region. Throughout their trip, the group was seamlessly transferred by Hokitika Scenic Tours.
The group enjoyed a relaxing soak at Waiho Hot Tubs and experienced the tranquil luxury of Te Waonui Forest Retreat while staying in Franz Josef for two nights. They dined at the Canopy Restaurant, indulging in a four-course degustation dinner. The group was set to experience a Glacier Heli Hike with Franz Josef Glacier Guides and a guided kayak tour with Ōkārito Kayaks, however unfortunately these activities did not go ahead due to weather conditions.
The famil concluded their West Coast adventure with a visit to Snakebite Brewery for a flavorful dining experience before continuing on to Wanaka.
