Seventeen West Coast tourism operators showcased the region to inbound tour companies and travel agents in Auckland last week, taking part in two major events that generated strong interest in the region.

The first event, the Auckland Inbound Operators (IBO) Sales Calls, took place on Monday 8 and Tuesday 9 September. Over two busy days, 12 West Coast operators – working in two groups – met face-to-face and online with more than 130 travel companies and agents who design and sell New Zealand holiday packages to overseas visitors. Some agents even joined the sessions virtually from as far away as India.

On Monday evening, DWC hosted a function with 20 inbound agents, giving operators the chance to present and network. The following night, West Coast products were showcased to Tourism New Zealand staff.

The second event, the Central South Island Product Showcase, took place on Wednesday 10 September in collaboration with Christchurch, Kaikōura, Hurunui, Timaru, Mackenzie, and the West Coast. Eleven West Coast operators joined 51 others at the showcase, connecting with 139 inbound agents.

“It was a huge week, and we couldn’t be prouder of the effort and energy our operators brought to Auckland,” said Development West Coast’s Tourism & Events Executive, Lara Thomas. “These events are a fantastic platform to promote the region and build valuable relationships with key trade partners.”
