Development West Coast (DWC) is participating in an India sales mission to capture the fast growing and lucrative tourism market.

DWC has joined seven other New Zealand operators to meet key Indian travel agents that already sell New Zealand packagers and to hold training sessions with qualified agencies that are looking to develop New Zealand itineraries.

Patrick Dault, DWC’s Destination and Tourism Manager, said India is a promising market that is set to grow substantially in the next decade.

“Positioning the West Coast, and our tourism operators, as an essential part of all New Zealand itineraries is key to making the most of this opportunity.”

During the sales roadshow, DWC will engage with more than 300 agents.

Deepak Bhatnagar from Vyom Journeys said having New Zealand operators join the roadshow is crucial for making the most of the India opportunity.

“Positioning New Zealand as a vibrant and exciting destination is key to capturing this market - the best way to do this is in-person, creating long-term relationships. We develop itineraries and the operators that join us bring them to life and the bookings follow,” he added.

Will Davison from INFLITE Group said the sales calls and in-market events through India have “been a knockout success, both as an operator and as a region for the West Coast.”

“We’ve met hundreds of agents, from some of the best accounts in India which will help to drive quality Indian travellers to the West Coast during peak and off-peak season.”

Christy Martin from Great Journeys of New Zealand said the Indian roadshow is crucial for linking New Zealand directly to the Indian market.

“Going alongside Patrick Dault and Deepak Bhatnagar has been most beneficial for me representing Great Journeys New Zealand. They have been working closely in this market for the last 20+ years and are well connected which has allowed me access to the top tourism companies in India. It is exciting times ahead and we look forward to welcoming more Indian customers to New Zealand.”
