Awatuna Sunset Lodge

Winter Renovations Completed

Following a successful summer season, Awatuna Sunset Lodge has been closed for a month-long renovation and reopened on Saturday, June 14th. Enhancements include the installation of reverse cycle air conditioning in all guest rooms and the guest lounge - offering improved comfort, particularly in the west-facing rooms during warmer months. Additionally, the bathrooms in both sea-view king rooms have been fully renovated to provide an added level of luxury, while still featuring spacious showers with rainheads and handheld options, heated towel rails, and modern fittings.

The reopening coincided with the arrival of international guests on a travel agent booking, who enjoy the off-peak dinner, bed, and breakfast package, new bathrooms and heating. Awatuna Sunset Lodge continues to offer its year-round paddock-to-plate menu, showcasing fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

Looking ahead, the lodge will run its seasonal "Catch, Cook and Stay" experience from September 1st to October 30th. With Waimea Creek located at the rear of the property, guests are invited to fish with Selwyn who supply all necessary equipment and then return to the kitchen, where they’ll be guided by Elizabeth in preparing their catch as part of the evening meal.
