Step into a one-of-a-kind self-guided experience that immerses you in the rich tapestry of Poutini Ngāi Tahu and the Māwhera Pā settlement. This captivating exhibition leads you through six compelling narratives, allowing you to explore at your own pace for a duration of 90 minutes or more. As you journey through these tales, be enchanted by a striking large-scale masterpiece crafted by Wētā Workshop and a sensory feast of visuals and sound, culminating in an unforgettable and inspiring encounter.
Westport / Kawatiri
This is an immersive experience that celebrates the heritage and endeavor of the people of the Buller District. Learn, unearth and discover the incredible story of Kawatiri, and the past, present and future of this unique place. Explore themes of Triumph and Treasure - the taonga (treasures) of the earth (pounamu, coal, gold) and the bravery and innovation of human endeavor they inspired from the earliest Polynesian settlers to today.
