The Punangairi Visitor Experience Centre, a key component of the Dolomite Point re-development in Punakaiki, is now officially open to the public. This state-of-the-art facility provides visitors with a more comprehensive and enjoyable experience.
At the heart of the development is the Punangairi Visitor Experience Centre. This modern facility houses a range of amenities, including:
- Public Toilets: Clean and convenient facilities for visitors.
- Staff Offices: A dedicated workspace for park rangers and tourism staff.
- Retail Space: A variety of local products and souvenirs for visitors to purchase.
- DOC Paparoa National Park Visitor Centre: Information and resources about the park.
- Meeting Facility: A space for groups and organizations to gather.
- Food & Beverage Facility: The West Coast Pie Company offers delicious local cuisine.
Beyond the visitor center, the project has also included significant infrastructure improvements. A new pedestrian/cycle pathway winds through Punakaiki, providing a safe and scenic route for exploring the area. The carpark has been upgraded to accommodate the increased number of visitors.
