About
More than just a place to lay your head, Gumboot Paradise Ecostay’s The “Hut”/Te Whare-iti is Kiwi ingenuity at its best, a unique, one of a kind, authentic experience, gumboot stylz.
Situated on 3 hectares of native bush interspersed with small grass clad clearings and eucalypts, The “Hut”/ Te Whare iti is set in a lush tropical forest garden surrounded by tree ferns, nikau and native bush. The “Hut” is a 3 x4 metre tiny home with an outdoor covered kitchen, woodfired bush bath surrounded by twinkling fairy lights, separate shower with a view of the stars and an outdoor fire pit supplied with complimentary marshmallows. The “Hut” can accommodate up to 4 people.
We take sustainability seriously and are solar powered (fully off grid), have a composting toilet, gas califont hot water for showering and use recycled materials wherever possible. A large organic vegetable garden complete with Muscovy ducks is sited just across the small creek which is home to 2 resident eels and a native trout.
The “Hut” is self-catering and comes complete with a large 4 burner gas BBQ with a side burner (plus an extra butane camp stove), a half sized fridge with a small freezer and all the cutlery, crockery, pots and pans that you'll need.
Supermarkets for food shopping can be found in either Greymouth (30-minute drive) or Westport (1 hour drive), so best to stock up before you arrive!
Don’t want to cook? Punakaiki is just a 10-minute drive away with a pub, 2 cafes and a restaurant to choose from. Otherwise Greymouth has a selection of restaurants and fast food outlets to choose from.
Only a five minute walk to the beach and a 10 min drive to the famous Pancake rocks. Gumboot Paradise is situated on one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world.
Also check out our boutique P.O.P (Park over Property) for self contained campers and caravans which has 5 parking spaces in a variety of sizes in a private setting. The sites look out onto the mighty Paparoa Range to the East and divine sunsets to the West.
