Department of Conservation Environment Award Finalist 2018: Hokitika New World

Department of Conservation Environment Award Finalist

New World Hokitika

New World Hokitika is a retailer of quality fresh foods, beer, wine and general grocery goods. Our team are passionate about providing a fantastic shopping experience for our valued customers in our modern well stocked store. We are always innovating to provide the latest on trend products served with a smile. We are a proud employer of over one hundred locals and take pride in our place supporting and being involved in our community.

We also strive hard to deliver solutions that are environmentally focused to minimise our footprint in our stunning West Coast setting. We have recently achieved our best month ever with diverting 91% of our waste from landfill. We are dedicated to innovating with packaging options that are better for our planet, both at checkout and around the shop. We will continue to work hard in this space to bring the best solutions for our customers available.

We are also proud to offer our community the ability to recycle their soft plastic waste through our store. We are currently processing around 1000 litres of soft plastic per week that would have normally been going directly to landfill. And when you are next in our store checkout the fantastic park benches made from the equivalent of 27,000 plastic bags.

And looking towards the future, we were very excited to recently install Westlands first 24-hour electric vehicle charging station. So now you can charge your car, stock up on your essentials whilst having more environmentally focused solutions towards your shopping experience.
