From age 16 you take take on an apprenticeship where you will gain technical, practical skills and experience while working for and learning from an employer.
All New Zealand Apprenticeships will be free until December 2022.
If you are thinking about studying and meet the criteria, you may be able to get a Student Allowance to help you pay for your living expenses while you are studying.
Alternatively, you may be able to get a Student Loan to help you pay for your costs while you are studying.
