Perfectly located between Westport and Karamea, The Old Slaughterhouse offers ready access to beautiful beaches, rivers and native forest. During your stay, visit the spectacular limestone Oparara arches in Karamea, explore the region's mining history by visiting the Denniston Plateau or go for a walk on the lovely Charming Creek Walkway, one of the South Islands top five short walks. Perfect stay before or after biking/walking The Old Ghost Road. Lodge only accessible via a 10 min. walking track up the hill (reasonable level of fitness required), luggage transport by arrangement. Facilities include 3 double rooms and 2 triple rooms (can be booked as twins). Shared bathrooms, kitchen for self-catering and cosy lounge in main building.
