Grounded Garden Services

With a genuine passion for improving green spaces, Grounded Garden Services can help you with any and all garden landscaping services on the West Coast.

“The Coast is a special place, and everyone who lives here, or visits, knows it," says Kate Duthie the owner/operator of Grounded Garden Services (GGS).

"I want to be part of transforming properties and beautifying neglected areas. I want to live in an attractive town where people stop to enjoy our parks and gardens.”

Whether you need landscaping advice, planning, design or maintenance, GGS can help.

“Our team synergy allows us to work quickly and effectively, we can practically read each other’s minds, and we bring fun and jollies to every job we work on, even the really hard ones!” Kate says.

“We have the right tools and industry contacts to get the job done professionally and efficiently.

“If any part of the work is beyond the scope of our team, we have a network of trusted contractors we can call to lend a hand and the support of local suppliers and businesses.”

GGS is a relatively new business (3 years old) based in Greymouth. Kate refined her business ideas while taking DWC’s Co.Starters business start-up and development programme in 2018.

“As the months went by, I started realising I needed help to launch into the West Coast networks. I signed up for DWC’s Co.Starters course and haven’t looked back.”

“GGS has also had the privilege to be supported by DWC’s Upskill consultants,” Kate says.

DWC’s Regional Employment and Training Programme, Upskill West Coast, has helped GGS recruit two qualified staff and has also assisted upskilling and refreshing their workforce in targeted areas.

“With support from the Upskill consultants, our GGS team, wanting to add to their skill set, have either completed or about to complete a range of industry recognised certificates and courses such as: Level 2 first aid certificates, basic chainsaw handling certificates, Truck and Wheels, Track and Rollers licences, Grosafe chemical organic or inorganic spray certificates - to name a few.”

GGS has also utilised the Regional Business Partner Network through DWC to receive NZTE Capability Development vouchers to access professional business services from local providers.

GGS has a small but closely knit team (4 staff), with a diverse range of expertise and a combined 40 years of experience between them.

“When we put our thinking caps on, there isn’t a problem we can’t solve. We enjoy a challenge and an honest day’s work,” Kate says.
